Retired Sergeant Ronel Galupo, 42, a former member of the Presidential Security Group when Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III was president, was found dead in North Cotabato on Friday.
Galupo was a member of the Army’s 56th Infantry Battallion and retired after Aquino’s term ended in 2016. After which, he served as a security officer for a private firm in Davao City.
He was in Magpet to visit his family and children.
It is said by Chief Inspector Romel Constantino that the gunman is still unidentified as he has escaped.
According to the police, Galupo was entering his house in RVM Subdivision in Barangay Poblacion, Magpet, at around 4:30 PM, when he was approached from behind and shot, after which he ran to a waiting motorbike driven by another person.
The gun used was a .45 caliber pistol.
Police still do not know the motive behind the kill.
